The Business Bottleneck Map
A list of problems is not a priority. The Bottleneck Map brings the strongest diagnostic signals together so the next conversation focuses on the constraint worth addressing first.
From reported symptoms to a testable hypothesis
The audit uses your answers to rank five diagnostic indicators. For each, the map records the reported signal, a possible root cause, a proposed action, an owner and a success measure.
A possible root cause is not a verified fact. Validate it against actual work, records and the experience of the team before committing resources.
How to use the map in a working session
- Confirm the example behind the signal. What happened, and what was the effect?
- Ask where the work waited or the information became unreliable.
- Compare the proposed cause with what the people doing the work observe.
- Choose a bounded change and an accountable owner.
- Decide what evidence would show that the constraint improved.
Example of a useful action
If new clients repeatedly arrive without complete setup information, “improve onboarding” is too broad. A more useful action is to define required intake fields, name the handoff owner and prevent project setup from being marked ready until those fields are checked.
That action belongs in a roadmap with a due date, capacity allocation and a completion test. Private client maps are available only through their protected report links.
