Business Operations Consulting
When the same problems return every week, the issue is usually in the way work is organised. We diagnose the constraint, design the operating changes and help your team put them into practice.
Start with the work that keeps breaking
Missed deadlines, duplicate entry and repeated clarification are evidence. We follow an actual piece of work from request to completion: who touches it, where it waits, what information is missing and how quality is checked.
This makes the diagnosis specific. “Improve communication” becomes “name the owner who accepts the handoff, define the required information and set an escalation point when it is incomplete.”
The operating changes we help build
- Process and workflow design
- Clear triggers, steps, owners, approvals and definitions of done.
- Team accountability
- Responsibilities that connect to decisions and deliverables, not just job titles.
- Documentation
- Usable checklists and SOPs placed where the work happens, with an owner and review trigger.
- Management rhythm
- Meetings and reporting that surface risks, resolve trade-offs and track commitments.
Diagnose, change, observe
First, establish the baseline: cycle time, waiting time, error rates or founder involvement. Then choose a small number of changes with a clear business reason. We implement with the people doing the work and observe what happens when the new process meets a real customer, deadline or exception.
For example, a client onboarding problem may require one intake owner, an agreed handoff checklist and a shared readiness view before it needs any new automation.
An engagement should leave a working system
Depending on the agreed scope, the handover may include a process map, responsibility matrix, updated workspace, SOPs, a performance view and a team operating rhythm. We agree the acceptance criteria before treating the work as complete.
If the business also needs ongoing cross-functional leadership, fractional COO support can carry the operating model forward.
Questions before you start
Do we need to know the root cause before speaking with you?
No. Bring examples of the recurring problem and the effect on customers, capacity or the founder. The diagnosis should distinguish symptoms from the constraint worth solving first.
Will you implement the recommendations?
Implementation is part of how Versed works. The proposal should identify which workflows, tools, documentation and team practices we will build, and what your team needs to contribute.
Should we automate the process first?
Only when ownership, inputs and exceptions are clear enough. Automating a broken handoff can make the same problem occur faster.
